Aura Music Player ("the app") is an offline music player for Android. It plays audio files that are already on your device. This policy explains what information the app uses, what stays on your device, and what is shared with our advertising partner.
Summary
- Your music, playlists, listening history and settings stay on your device.
- We don't run servers, require an account, or use analytics or crash-reporting services.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect device and usage information to deliver and measure ads, and to personalise them where you've allowed it.
- You can change your ad consent at any time in Settings > Privacy > Ad privacy choices, where your region requires it.
01Information that stays on your device
The app processes the following only on your device. We never receive it.
| Information | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|
| Audio files on your device, with their tags (title, artist, album, genre, year), embedded artwork and lyrics files | To build your library and play your music |
| Playlists, liked songs, play counts and listening history, bookmarks, resume positions, queues | To provide library, history, Smart Playlist and resume features |
| Settings, such as equalizer, spatial audio and vibe presets, themes and scan folders | To remember your preferences |
| Search and voice requests ("play … on Aura" from Google Assistant or Android Auto) | To find matching songs in your library; the query is matched locally |
Smart Playlist suggestions are produced on your device from your own library and play history.
Backups: when you use Settings > Backup and restore, or export an M3U playlist, the file is saved to a location you choose. The app doesn't upload it anywhere.
Android backup: if Android's own backup is turned on, the system may include the app's settings and database in your Google account backup. You control this in your device settings.
Home-screen widgets show the current song and controls. They display information already on your device and don't send it anywhere.
02Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows ads through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, provided by Google LLC or Google Ireland Limited, depending on your region. Ads appear:
- occasionally, when you switch between library sections;
- in the player, as a clearly labelled ad you can close;
- when you choose to watch a rewarded ad to unlock Smart Playlist generation.
To deliver, measure, limit and secure ads, and to personalise them where permitted, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- your device's advertising ID, and app set ID;
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- device and app information, such as model, operating system, language and app version;
- ad interactions, such as impressions, taps and video views;
- diagnostic information about ad performance.
This data goes to Google, not to us. Google's use of it is governed by its own policies:
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Your choices about ads
- Consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and other regions where it's required, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent tool before ads are requested. You can review or change your choice in Settings > Privacy > Ad privacy choices.
- US state privacy rights. Where applicable, the consent tool also lets you opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising.
- Advertising ID. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device's Google or Privacy settings.
- Non-personalised ads. If you decline personalisation, you may still see ads, but they won't be based on your interests.

| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
Music and audio (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO; storage on Android 12 and older) | Find and play audio files on your device |

The app doesn't request your contacts, location, camera, microphone, phone or SMS permissions.
04What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't collect your music library, listening history or files on any server.
- We don't use third-party analytics, crash reporting or tracking tools apart from the Google Mobile Ads SDK.
- The app doesn't stream, download or upload music.
05Data retention and deletion
- On your device: your data stays until you delete it. Clear the app's storage (Android Settings > Apps > Aura Music Player > Storage > Clear storage) or uninstall the app to erase it. Backup files you exported stay wherever you saved them.
- Ad data held by Google: retained under Google's policies. You can reset your advertising ID and manage Google's ad data through the links in section 2.
06Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or US state laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, or to object to or opt out of certain processing. We don't hold personal information about you on our systems. For data processed by Google for advertising, use Google's controls listed above, or contact us and we'll help where we can.
07Children
The app isn't directed at children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we'll help you address it.
08Security
Your library data stays in the app's private storage on your device, protected by Android's app sandbox. Ad traffic is handled by the Google Mobile Ads SDK over encrypted connections.
09Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll publish the new version at this address and update the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll also let you know in the app.
